friends from far away

Posted on August 31, 2011

I am very fortunate to have amazing women in my life.  This scanned photo was taken about 15 years ago on top of mountain in Boulder Colorado with my best girlfriends.

Loren, Joelle, Me (short light hair,) Jenn and Tani on top.

I have known Jen for at least 15 years now. We traveled the world together while working with Tony Robbins. When I met Jen I was living in San Diego and I believe she was living in Amsterdam. Years later I moved to a town I had never heard of right here in Sturbridge MA. Can you believe her parents live here too!?

Jenn, I think you are amazing and I am so grateful to know you. This picture captures your beautiful, joyful spirit.

Every few years she visits with her family from France and I get to meet her to reminisce over a glass off wine.  This year we made a day of it and I did a photo session of her beautiful family. Enjoy your photos!

My senior year feels like forever ago but every time I photograph a senior it all comes flooding back to me. Wow- all those good times, laughter, memories….

When I asked Alyx what  she liked about  high school she said  ”How can you talk about high school and not sound cliche? I would say my favorite part is looking back on how much I have changed and on how many different people I have met along the way. The people I have met have changed me in on way or another and it’s crazy how much I have grown up in only three years. But basically, I’m going to miss the fall. Football games with my friends beginning of the year seeing everyone again and playing soccer.”

I then asked what has she learned from the people in her life?  ”My parents have taught me that life is easier when you surround yourself with people you love and that support you.  My siblings have taught me that anything can be fun, my siblings and I have a great time together no matter what thanks to FFF (forced family fun.) My friends have taught me that its important to surround yourself with different people, there is a lot to learn, and different people teach you different things.”

“My wish for Alyx as a senior is to embrace her last year of high school and enjoy all it has to offer.
My hope for Alyx as she becomes an adult is that she finds her “happy place” sooner than later.  That she challenges herself to be the best she can be.  That family and friends are always her priority.  That she experiences TRUE friendship over and over.
I have learned so much from Alyx…..I feel blessed everyday to call her my daughter.  She has let me into her life and continually involves me.  For that I will always be grateful.”
~ Mom
“I wish for Alyx as a grown woman what I have wished for her since the day she was born.  That she is happy and prepared for all that life brings.  That she is comfortable and confident in who she is.  And finally, that she always knows that no matter what, her Mom and I will ALWAYS love her and support her.
My best advice for Alyx- enjoy life even when it seems like things are difficult.  Everything that happens to us is a blessing and if everything was good all of the time, we would never know that it was good, so live it all, the good times and the bad!
Alyx’s best trait is easy.  It is her tenacity.  If Alyx decides that she is going to do something, she does it.  People might say “she’ll never be able to do that,” but if Alyx sets her mind to it, it’s hers.  She will never quit and will never accept anything that is less than the expectation that she has of herself in her mind…. I LOVE that!”

Enjoy your senior year! See you next month to do your “real” senior photos! Thank you!

Steladena’s in Fiskdale

Posted on July 15, 2011

About a week ago I past a sign for homemade all natural ice cream at Steladena’s and I have been meaning to take the kids ever since. Last night before my photo shoot AE and I took the kids for the BEST ice cream I think I ever had.  I had coffee ice cream, AE had dirty chocolate, A. had cookie dough and J. had peanut butter mudslide. YUMMY!

Steledena’s serves SoCo ice cream (South County Creamery) which is a family owned and run micro-creamery based in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, producing delicious, ultra-premium ice cream, sorbet, and gelato.

If you live in the area do yourself a favor and get yourself an ice cream cone! They have a cute window out back with tables and umbrellas. I had my camera so of course I snapped a few photos of my children enjoying their ice cream

Seriously, How cute is my husband?

I asked my son to give me a “nice smile” so I could get a good photo. and he gave me this.

Which quickly turned into this.

Followed by this. I love the monster teeth that shows off his newly lost two front teeth.

I adore this family. They are easy going and BEAUTIFUL. Sweet baby O. just celebrated his first birthday. Could he be any cuter?

He sure does love his Daddy!

Summer is here and I am thrilled to be spending time creating special moments with my children. Forth of July weekend was packed with good times and laughter.

We started the weekend on Friday with a trip to Six Flags New England with my sister-inlaw and her son. I left my good  camera at home but captured a few photos with my iphone. Have I mentioned how much I love my iphone?

Saturday we headed to Stafford, CT to enjoy a day at our friends the Dunn’s family lake house. My husband went  bright and early to run an “unofficial” race with Amy.  Runners were promised a open bar for the day tended by Steve, this was enough to get my husband out of bed. HAHA  No photos of the race were taken by me,  I needed time to sleep in and recover from our day at Six Flags. I wish I took more photos at the lake but it also felt good to just relax on a beach chair with a yummy  drink in hand.

Aidan went tubing for the first time and had a blast!

This next photo is one of my favorites of the summer. I just love how my husband and son are leaning over the deck ready to fish. I think it is the cutest thing ever!

Sunday it rained all day and it felt good to get some things done around the house. We snuggled up together and watched a movie.

Independence Day! We celebrated with a cookout at Nanny and Papa’s house.

One of my favorite people in the world is Papa. Papa is the most loving, generous, hard working man I know. He has had a rough health year and we are so GRATEFUL that he is doing well.

Jayla shares her marshmallows with Papa.

It’s funny how some pictures just speak to you. The photo above captures my son so perfectly for where he is at this time. I love that he is using his tongue to wiggle his tooth hoping that is will fall out and the tooth fairy will visit tonight. I also love his long hair that he asked to grow out.

Unfortunately fireworks were cancelled at Old Sturbridge Village because of the tornado damage. AE (husband) bought some low key fireworks.

“UMM Dad, the firewaorks smell.”  LOL

We had a wonderful weekend. I am blessed.

It’s official, summer is here!

Posted on June 22, 2011

It’s official, summer is here! The kids are out of school and already looking for new adventures. I am looking forward to spending special time with them and creating childhood memories.

This next photo my husband took.  I cherrish all the photos with me and my children that are even remotely in focus. :)  It is very rare that any photos are taken of me because I am the one always taking them.
