What I did last summer. Part 1, MA Sturbridge child photographer
Posted on September 4, 2009
Well summer is over. **sigh** It’s September? How did this happen? I cant believe the kids are back in school and its time to get out warmer clothes. Summer took so long to arrive here in Massachusetts. We had rain almost daily up until August. The weather made for a lazy summer. We didn’t go on a “real” vacation. I kept meaning to book a week at the Cape and just put it off because of all the rain. Our family did a few long weekend trips instead.
One of our weekend getaways (can you call it a getaway when you have the kids along?) was to the the charming town of Mystic, CT. We woke up saturday morning and the sun was shinning. Could this really be true? It was the first saturday with sunshine that we could remember. Alphonso jumped online to book a hotel while I packed a bag.
Our first stop was Mystic Seaport. A few snapshots of the highlights from our day.
The Tall ships were amazing! I love to read , especially historical novels (with a little romance.)
Seeing the tall ships and getting a glimpse on what it would have been like to travel around the world on one brought all my books even more alive.
We went out onto the water for a short ride on a steam boat. The kids didn’t sit still. However, all was not lost. Look how cute hubby looks.

After a nice day at the Seaport the kids were ready to go back to the hotel for a swim. No trip to Mystic can be complete without eating at Mystic Pizza. The little slice of heaven was made famous from the movie Mystic Pizza starring Julia Roberts. And yes, the pizza was delicious!
With bellies full and completly happy we walked the quaint streets of Mystic. The kids spotted a toy store and we headed in. Mr. A is into all things swords and picked out a gladiator costume, little Miss J would not be left out and decided on a viking hat. All of us had a wonderful time playing on the boardwalk and people watching. Ice cream included of course.
Can they be any cuter?
And incase you never saw the move Mystic Pizza. Check it out.
